Chainsaw Operations with Team Rubicon Disaster Response

For the last week, I’ve been deployed to New Bern, North Carolina with Team Rubicon to help Hurricane Florence survivors clean up. Florence isn’t in the news anymore, but there’s still plenty of work to be done.

I had the great fortune to work with an outstanding, fun group of sawyers to remove hazard trees. Many of the trees we removed were on properties owned by military veterans or elderly people without the ability to do the work themselves. One veteran was a five-time Purple Heart recipient and the sweetest gentleman ever. I was truly honored to meet him and his veteran neighbor.

Since Team Rubicon doesn’t do disaster tourism and there’s plenty of devastation pictures out there, I’ll just share pictures of our Forward Operating Base, my Strike Team Bravo and some of the great work we did. Want to help out? Sign up for Team Rubicon, donate if you can, or spread the word. We’re still doing cleanup in North Carolina, Flordia and we’re headed to the Mariana Islands for medical relief.
